This hidden gem is a piece that, according to the BBC News website in July 2025, has amassed more Spotify plays than anything else over the last ten years. And yet it never began life as a massive hit, just a humble closing track to one of Lord Huron’s albums.
With its gentle pace, simple orchestration and poignant words, this is a charming piece. The clever and consistent use of mixed meter exerts a gentle pull on the flow of the piece.
Two Sample Pages are included so that purchasers on Sheet Music Plus can see representative parts for each instrument. There is no need to print these.
There are two arrangements in this edition - one keeps the tune and the accompaniment on separate guitars (ideal for a mixed ability duo) and the other swaps roles at each phrase boundary - making the performance that little bit more special for an audience. The music is the same in both arrangements.
My arrangements keep to the key of the original and capture many of the slight changes in the original’s guitar part that makes the listening experience that little bit more varied.
- I've also arranged this for flute & guitar
- and for Bb clarinet & guitar
