About St Thomas Church Bedhampton
Well-sited for visitors, this beautiful Church, featuring a 12th Century Norman Arch (see below) is a short stroll from Bedhampton station, and close to the junction of the A3M and A27. There is a frequent bus service from Havant and Portsmouth.
There is a large car-park next to the Church with level access to the Church itself via a path through the Church grounds and past the ancient Yew trees (you can see one in the photo). Look out for the remains of a sundial on the south-facing wall.
And stop to look at the little lane that runs by the front door - it was once the main road from Portsmouth to Brighton.
St Thomas Bedhampton is one of two churches in the Parish of Bedhampton - the other, also a past hago venue, is St Nicholas Church Hall Bedhampton.
Accessibility
The Church has level access for wheelchairs. There is a fully-equipped disabled toilet, accessed via a second outside door (for level access) or via a small step at the vestry door (for wheelchair users with an assistant).
The Church at Old Bedhampton has a capacity of 150.
Travel directions
Arriving by train
Alight at Bedhampton Station. If necessary cross to the north side, where there is a main road.
Turn left, and at the pedestrian lights, turn left to Bidbury Mead and cross the road to enter the grass fields. Aim for the diagonally opposite corner
- The Church is directly in front of you.
Arriving by car from Chichester and the East
Head along the A27 trunk road.
Just past Havant, take the slip road to the left signed A3M London.
At the top of the rise, take the right hand lane and turn right over the road you were on.
Go straight across the mini roundabout and approach the large roundabout in the right hand lane.
Go round the roundabout, keeping on under the A3M and past a restaurant high on your left.
Turn left off the roundabout (signed Bedhampton).

Arriving by car from Southampton and the West
Head along the M27. When it becomes the A27 keep to the left. Soon the road becomes 4 lanes. Take the left lane (signed A3M London), and as the road
divides, take the slip road on the very left, signed Bedhampton.
At the large roundabout turn right.
Go round the roundabout, keeping on under the A3M and past a restaurant high on your left.
Turn left off the roundabout (signed Bedhampton).

Arriving by car from Petersfield and the North
Head down the A3M. When you pass under the very tall archway and the road becomes 3 lanes, take the left slip road (Signed Hayling Island). At the
roundabout at the foot of the hill, turn left.

Go up Bedhampton Hill Road, and after 400 yards, the road bears right and dips down again.
At the mini-roundabout, go straight across and immediately turn right into Brookside Road.
After 400 yards, turn left into Bidbury Lane.
Go past the Church on your left and then turn left where there is a car-park.
There is a pedestrian gate into the Churchyard, taking you past the yew trees to the front door.
