Chiquitita - Guitar Quartet

Chiquitita - 4 Guitars

This is a concert crowd-pleaser perfect for intermediate (or advanced intermediate) guitarists. Like the original, it runs for almost five minutes of foot-tapping fun!

One reason ABBA songs are so memorable isn’t the strong melody line, it’s all the other clever harmonies and textures that lurk just under the surface to make a crafted masterpiece.

My arrangement uses guitar-friendly shapes to capture the song and the countermelodies that make the original such a great listen. Arranging this piece in D rather than A means we can use the guitars’ range of notes to full effect, and whether you have 4 guitars or 40, this will make a big, big sound.

I’ve resisted the temptation to put dynamics on the score - please make the performance "yours". Just ensure that Guitar 2 (the countermelody) isn’t as loud as Guitar 1 (the tune), as Guitar 2 rises above Guitar 1 here and there, just like the original.
