What is a Group Guitar Class Like?

Derek Hasted's Guitar Ensemble School

www.derek-hasted.co.uk

I run guitar classes at several levels, privately and via a local College.

Let me tell you more about my complete beginners' class ...

When I teach classes I work hard to make sure that no-one feels out of their depth, no matter how limited their skills are at the moment.

In the early classes, no-one is ever singled out to play in front of others, and there's no pressure at all, even if, for whatever reason, you didn't manage to do your homework!

Class tuition is based on lectures and demonstrations, and there are handouts to take away with extra information. My Syllabus has received Open College Network accreditation.

Homework is set from a book that you buy that lasts for the entire course, and the first half of each lesson is devoted to the homework, and the second half to new topics.

Homework is supplemented by CDs to play along with - these are made possible by the permission of the publisher of the book.

You may feel apprehensive about joining a class lesson when you don't know whether you can manage guitar or not, but I can assure you that the beginners' class is designed for people who've never played in their lives. If you attend regularly and do homework, you'll not only succeed but you'll make many new friends at the same time!

Oh, and you'll play in my Concerts too - visit the Concerts pages when you've closed this window ...
