About St Cuthbert's Church
Situated on Portsea Island close to Copnor Bridge, this Church is undergoing a renaissance following some visionary work by the incumbent, the Rev David Power. This massive Church (history talks of it seating 900 when it was opened) is being given back to the community - part of the ground floor is now a Doctors' surgery, and new levels above this provide offices, rooms and halls for the Church and community alike. The picture of the interior is of the conference room, situated high above ground and nestling under the magnificent domed ceiling - something that cannot be seen from the exterior.
Travel directions
Copnor is an easy journey by car or bus, but visitors by train will find that the journey ends with a bus or tax ride.
Copnor is on the north-east side of Portsea Island.
Arriving by bus
FirstBus 13 and 14 buses stop close by.
Arriving by train
The nearest station with a good service is Fratton, which has fast trains to Havant (and beyond) and Southampton. The 13 and 14 bus pass close by and stop at Fratton Station.
Arrriving by car
Copnor is best reached from the Eastern Road, the A2030, which is off the A27, between Portsmouth and Havant. From the Eastern Road, seek out Hayling Avenue.
Parking is difficult - the streets nearby are terraced housing and the kerbsides are often pretty full.
