Derek and his chicks....
Our July 2003 Concert was in aid of The Rowan's Hospice - a local and simply wonderful Hospice for the seriously ill.
Derek was presented with 10 chickens at the end of the Concert.
Well, not presented with them as such - the hago players clubbed together for a presentation at the end of the Concert, and it was in the form of 10 chickens, purchased for us by the charity World Vision. The chickens are to be presented to a family in the Third World.
Mercifully, the chickens did not need names, or Derek would have been hard-pressed to work out which hago players would have a chicken named after them. And indeed, which poor chickens would end up with a man's name...
Then again, our MD is equally sure there's a joke about plucking technique here somewhere...
