The Forest of Bere
Once an unbroken tract of forest extending over much of the south of England east of the New Forest, it now survives as several separate areas of natural woodland.
It was used by the Saxon Kings for hunting and later, the Normans turned it into a Royal Forest.
Popular for walking, cycling and horse-riding, the forests are criss-crossed with paths and viewpoints, and all through the year, families enjoy the freshness and quiet of the woodland trails.
