There's no thrill to beat playing to a large and appreciative audience!
I've organised Workshop Concerts for Charity since 1989 - highlights in our year for many reasons :
- My students have a real goal and a focus for their practice
- My new students can see & hear how their playing will progress
- Others in the community discover just how much fun it can all be
- It gives us an opportunity to support charitable projects in our community
The charity angle is important to me. There is nearly always at least one of my players whose family or friends are, at that moment, indebted to a local charity for help and support - maybe because of illness or bereavement. I'm glad of opportunities to raise money for local charities, the work of which often only become apparent in times of crisis.
So far we have raised over £55,109 for local good causes, listed here on the Workshop website (opens in new window)
Every Workshop member who has given freely of their time to help raise money for local charities gets my heartfelt thanks, here, where it can be seen all over the world.
This page is my chance to recognise the enthusiasm, dedication, commitment and talent of the people who make my Ensemble groups so much fun.
And now you've met some of them...
All adults who started as beginners.
All thoroughly enjoying themselves.
And isn't that what Guitar playing is actually all about?
